New Slot Machines at Global Gaming
The Global Gaming Expo is the largest trade show on the North
American continent for brick and mortar casinos.
This year’s organizers of the Expo anticipate the arrival of 25,000
to 30,000 people. Roughly 345,000 square feet of space will be occupied
by 750 peddlers offering everything from tax services to slot machines.
The expo is also a great venue to show off the latest and greatest in
the industry, especially slot machines.
“Our industry is not just the operators, but the people who are
renting space on this floor here,” said Frank Fahrenkopf, President and
CEO of the American Gaming Association.
“Clearly if our operators are in trouble, are they going to be buying
new slot machines, equipment and so forth? This is an industry-wide
problem.”
Companies that manufacture slot machines are discovering that more
and more casinos prefer to lease slot machines over buying new ones.
They prefer leasing slot machines because it is a way to ensure against
purchasing equipment that is prone to malfunction and expensive to
repair.
AC Coin and Slot is based in Pleasantville, NJ. Chris Strano, vice
president of sales and marketing, said starting this summer the company
enjoyed more and more clients leasing slot machines from them. The
happened more as companies were force to rethink underperforming slot
machines off of the gaming floor.
“Operators were looking to how do I keep my floor fresh, how do I do
it without spending dollars,” Strano said.
When a brick and mortar purchases slot machines, they get to keep all
amassed revenues. Companies that go with a leasing option must share
revenues with the leasing company.
