Licensing of Fastbet and NYX Interactive on the Island of Man could
lead to the creation of 100 new jobs. Online casinos have brought
significant wealth and jobs to many island nations.
Within the next year, Fastbet expects to create between 10 and 15 new
jobs. NYX Interactive, the Swedish gaming company, will create as many
as 30 new jobs to fill management, marketing, sales, and technical
positions over the next two years. With the next five years NYX
Interactive is likely to create up to 100 new positions.
“These two companies are actually the sort of companies we are looking
to bring here and will significantly increase the size of the industry
with jobs and the money going through the banking system,” said Garth
Kimber, head of e-gaming development at the Department of Trade and
Industry.
“We have worked to ensure that the regulatory environment is
compatible for a variety of e-gaming platforms, from online payment
services, to software and web design companies to sports betting service
providers and the licensing of Fasbet and NYX Interactive is testimony
to just how far we have come in this respect over the last year.”
At this time there are only 13 Isle of Man license
holders and the industry is only growing as three additional online
casino operators have been approved for licensing but have not yet
claimed them. Six more companies have submitted application to operate
online casinos on the Island.
“The Island has very clear and specific policies to encourage e-commerce
businesses to relocate and the regulatory environment and technological
capabilities of the Island allow us to deliver a new modern network
gaming model,” said Jonas Blomqvist, NYX Interactive chief operating
officer.
