Online casinos are not the only gambling business making big bucks online.  Apparently, the lottery in the United Kingdom is enjoying a boost in revenue.  According to the company which operates the United Kingdom’s National Lottery, Camelot, ticket sales have improved by more than four percent over last year’s sales.  The increase in revenue comes from a combination of wise business moves, including refiguring prize methods and sales promotions.  Lottery sales in the Unite Kingdom are better than they have been in over a decade.

Regulating online gambling in the United Kingdom was not only great news for online casinos.  The lottery is capitalizing off of legalized online gambling as well.  Camelot saw a serious spike in online ticket sales to the lottery.  In fact, online ticket sales increased by 32 percent over last years sales.

Much like slot machines at online casinos, the lottery system in the United Kingdom has found that sales improve by appealing to people’s love of pop culture icons.  Several scratch off tickets have been promoted using classic movie figures like James Bond and Indiana Jones.

“The main reason people play is to win large amounts of money,” said a spokesman from Camelot. 

“Any big jackpot win in the UK gives a huge boost to ticket sales of that particular game.

Lottery systems in the United States are experiencing similar growth, the one problem they face is the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.  The law is supposed to focus on online casinos and exclude online lottery sales.  Unfortunately, the law is so poorly designed that several state lotteries have complained of it disrupting their sales.
