Harrah's Makes it Official
Competition in any industry is all about staying relevant to your
client base. It is not as if land based casinos do not see the trend
emerging in favor of online casinos, but not many seem to be doing
anything about it except lobbying against online casinos legally.
However, one company, already an industry leader, is not willing to be
left behind and has taken a decisive step forward.
Harrah’s Entertainment is preparing for the legalization and
regulation of online casinos in the United States. It has not yet been
a month since Representative Barney Frank introduced legislation to
regulate online casinos and to put a freeze on the enforcement of the
Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, but many analysts believe
the legislation has more than a fair chance of passing into law.
In response to the success of online casinos and predictions that
eventually many gamblers will adopt online casinos as their primary
source of gambling, Harrah’s Entertainment announced the formation of
Harrah’s Interactive Entertainment, Inc. Harrah’s Interactive
Entertainment, Inc. is a subsidiary that has been formed to focus on
further developing the Harrah’s brand with interactive gaming
technology.
“As the world's largest gaming company, Harrah's is taking a
proactive approach toward international and interactive expansion,”
explained Gary Loveman, President, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer
of Harrah's Entertainment.
It is a wise move on the part of Harrah’s Entertainment to look
toward online casinos in the future. The companies that survive this
current economic recession will emerge stronger and more streamlined.
While brick and mortar casinos are struggling to keep their doors open
in some cases, business has been on the rise for online casinos all
throughout the recession.
