Casino In Catskill Region
The Seneca Nation of Indians is making every effort to bring slot
machines to the Catskill region of New York State. Now that the Seneca
Nation Legislative Council has agreed upon a compact with Sullivan
County and surrounding municipalities, the tribe is one big step closer
to beginning construction on their ambitions 2 million square foot
casino resort.
The agreement reached by the tribe and the local governments was on a
$15.5 million annual flat rate payment generated from gaming revenues.
Payment will begin once the slot machines are spinning and the casino is
open for operation. Officials from the Seneca Nation will travel to
Sullivan County this week to finalize the deal and make a public
announcement.
“This is our first big step in our goal of bringing Class III gaming
to the Catskills,” said a very optimistic Barry Snyder Sr., Seneca
Nation president.
Seneca Nation intends to build a 63 acre resort casino in the Town of
Bridgeville. The project will require the partnership of Michigan based
company, Rotate Black. The resort will be massive, with 6,000 slot
machines and 120 table games; not including an additional 30 poker
tables. That is just the gaming floor.
The resort will be completed with the construction of a 1,500 room
hotel and spa, some 12 restaurants and retail stores, and for
entertainment a 5,000 seat arena. There is currently no project in the
Hudson Valley economic development pipeline on the scale of the casino
resort being built by the Seneca Nation.
