It is very ironic that the conservatives in the government are the main force protesting online casinos.  Historically, Republicans have always stood for personal responsibility and smaller government.  The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act shows just how far away from that the party stepped during the Bush administration.

The law firm Weston, Garrou, Walters and Mooney has dedicated its focus to the protection of first amendment rights.  They believe that the attack by the United States government on the right to gamble at online casinos is a violation of first amendment rights.

Weston, Garrou, Walters and Mooney have dedicated an enormous amount of time studying the issue of the legality of online casinos, including everything from gaming promotions to business relationships.  The firms website offers all sorts of information related to online casinos, topics include; gaming law advice, affiliate contracts, advertising, and a legal compliance review.

“The U.S. government has taken a stance that anything that happens in cyberspace falls under federal law,” said Larry Walters, managing partner of the firm.

“The state does not have the constitutional right to pass laws that affect international commerce and that includes anything over the internet.”

Walters makes no secret about his advocacy of regulating online casinos and Internet gambling in the United States but the primary focus of his business is to preserve the right to free speech without fear of censorship from the government. 

Walters also believes that the recession could be a major break for online casinos.  As several states are in search of new forms of revenue they may be in a place to force the hand of the federal government.
