New York Support For Online Casinos
Online casinos may be back in the United States sooner than
most gamblers think. The political tide seems to be turning in the favor of
online casinos. The second politician in 2008 has signed up for Barney Frank’s
proposal to regulate and tax online casinos in the US. Barney Frank is the
House Financial Services Committee Chairman.
These new supporters bring the number of co-sponsors for
the pro-online casinos legislation to 47.
HR2046, the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement
Act (IGREA) has slowly, but surely, gained support. The support for the IGREA
may be due to the failure of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
The UIGEA was designed to destabilize the financial
structure of online casinos. But time has shown its ability to rid the country
of the pastime insufficient.
Congressman Tim Bishop makes the 47th co-sponsor
of the IGREA. Bishop represents the 1st District of New York State.
He is currently serving his third term. Bishop is also currently a member of
the House of Representatives committees that focus on Education and Labor,
Budget, as well as Transportation and Infrastructure.
Bishop describes his political ambition as fighting for the
rights of middle class families. He also intends to strengthen education,
defend the environment, and make a safer homeland.
