Progress for online casinos in the United States,
seems to have once again hit an ugly bump in the road. Many in the
Internet gambling industry still believe that online casinos will
approach legalization and regulation during the Obama administration.
However, many people also believe that the man that would usher in that
new age for online casinos would be Bill Richardson in the role of
Commerce Secretary.
Not that online casinos do not still stand a chance
during the Obama presidency, but the Richardson road certainly seems
closed off now that he is being investigated for political corruption.
No one can be sure but it is widely believed that Richardson will be
exonerated. Even if that is the case, he has the problem of his
character being undermined, just one more problem for the Obama camp to
deal with long before they can even look at legislation regarding online
casinos.
Problem after problem has arisen for a man who is
not yet President. Internationally is the Israel Hamas problem, back
home there is not only the scandal over Obama’s former Senate seat but
there is also the issue of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi catering to the
Republicans over Obama’s economic stimulus plan has if Democrat never
took a majority of the congress in this last election.
It is hard to hope for any big changes in online
casinos when the United States and the rest of the world seem to be
crumbling around Obama’s ears before he even takes his seat in the oval
office. At this rate he will be lucky if he is not sitting on a wooden
crate in a roofless office.
