After casinos changed about the rules of blackjack to counteract the
slim player advantage of card counting, blackjack quickly went from the
mega giant of the card table to simply the most popular card game at
online casinos. Blackjack player simply saw that the house advantage
became even more enormous and that they were losing more money so they
stopped playing the game.
Oddly enough the same logic has not affected slot machines. Slot
machines, speaking in basic logic of odds, are bad games to gamble on.
Players are going to lose without doubt much more than they win, but
that does not stop the popularity of slot machines.
It would appear that slot machine players have been trained to accept
enormous losses. The promise of a big jackpot seems to be what keep
players coming back to slot machines, that and slot machines do not
require a lot of skill or thought making them great time killers.
However, speaking in long terms, a big jackpot is rarely enough to cover
the losses they have amassed over the years and will continue to incur
in the future.
Both blackjack and slot machines are big money makers at casinos and
in both cases players are expecting to lose more than they win. But,
blackjack players only expect to losses slightly more than they win, the
season blackjack player anyway. When casinos attempt to turn blackjack
into the money vacuum of slot machines, blackjack players are going to
walk. If they wanted to dump all of their money away into a game based
completely on lucky, they would have long skipped the blackjack tables
and plotted themselves in front the rows of slot machines in most
casinos.
