Penn Defies Logic

It is no secret that brick and mortar casino have received the short end of the stick during this economic down turn.  Brick and mortar casinos, from Las Vegas to Atlantic City, are reporting decreases in revenue month after month.  Not even slot machines are pulling their weight at these gambling venues.  Slot machines usually make the most money for casino.  Only one state has managed to see business grow and shake of the trend suffered across the nation.  Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania is still relatively new to the gambling see, but the seven gambling venues in the state managed to a revenue increase over last year of 29 percent.  Combined, all seven sites recorded gaming revenues of $131 million for the month of November.  Last month, 16,793 slot machines were operating in slot parlors and racinos across the country.  That is 32 percent more slot machines than last year.

The future seems bright for Pennsylvania.   A few years ago Pennsylvania was the center of attention as the state opened its arms to slot machines and operators competed strongly for an operating license in the state destined to do great slot machine business.  The law that passed allowed for 65,000 slot machines to be operated in the state.  At current, there are not even half as much slot machines operating at the moment.

It seems that as long as Pennsylvania expands, there will be a customer base that desires its services.  If the slot machine parlors in Pennsylvania were able to survive the struggling economy of 2008, 2009 holds a lot of promise.
