Antigua Make Great Progress
For the most part, when American players hear about
the island nation of Antigua in the news it is about how the United
States has yet to pay them for damages instigated by the Unlawful
Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Just recently there were rumors
floating that the United States was negotiating positioning a military
based on the island in order to avoid paying the multimillion dollar
annual fee agreed upon at the World Trade Organization.
The United State may be a small thorn in the side
of Antigua, but the international community, at least the likeminded
sort that have embraced online casinos, have treated the island nation
very well. Online casinos in both Antigua and Barbuda have received a
surge after their regulation processes received British approval.
The United Kingdom is the first country to
officially legalize and regulate online casinos. Their regulation
process is considered the most detailed and reliable process on the
planet. So it was with great honor that Antigua received word that the
British Department of Culture, Media, and Sports approved the legitimacy
of online casino operations in Antigua. This was also great publicity
for Antigua as many more operators are now looking to set up shop for
their online casinos on the island.
“Key personnel, key management and key operators
are required to be in Antigua and Barbuda,” said Kaye McDonald, director
of gaming for the Antiguan commission.
“This is of utmost importance.”
Online casinos got there start in island nations
like Antigua and Bermuda and these areas have a strong interest in
remaining key players in the future of the industry.
