The Appeal of Penny Slot Machines
Penny slot machines can be deceiving in name. These
increasingly popular rendition of the worlds most popular casino past time are
not as small time as people think. Granted you are not likely to win as much
from penny slot machines as you are from major progressive slot machines, but
gamblers can still walk away with a “pretty penny.”
No, players do not insert pennies into penny slot
machines. Like most slot machines these days, they operate on cash or paper
vouchers. Penny slot machines do not pay in pennies either. Recently a woman
from Staten Island, New York won $800 from a penny slot jackpot at the Hilton
Casino Resort in Atlantic City. The same woman, Ria Gebbia, won even more,
$1,018 from a penny slot machine in the Rio casino in Las Vegas.
It is safe to say that Gebbia is a fan of penny slot
machines.
“I feel that you have more opportunities to win on the
penny machines than you do with the dollar machines,” said Gebbia, offering a
reason for her loyalty to penny slot machine.
The Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City now
carries 750 penny slot machines. 250 of those slot machines were introduced
last year alone. According to spokeswoman Courtney Birmingham, the casino will
certainly introduce more penny slot machines if the demand keeps up.
“Traditionally, we have always tried to stay in front of
trends,” said Birmingham.
“Our customers have always shown an interest in penny
games. It’s really just going back to providing the games that customers want on
the casino floor.”
