Table games in Maryland are big news for everyone in the state. There is no question that if Maryland wants to compete with the rest of the gambling industries in surrounding states they are going to need to offer table games. In fact, most people do not even consider a gambling venue a full casino until they at least offer card games. The changes being proposed by Governor Martin O’Malley would not only introduce table games, but a few card games as well. This is wonderful news for the casinos in the state. They are currently not making that much money off of the slot machines in the state because the state is currently demanding a hefty 67 percent tax fee. When table games are legalized, the tax due will only be about 20 percent. This means the casinos can use that money to build up their venues.
The table games are actually a great thing for the Maryland gambling industry as a whole. While slot machines are known to make much of the money for a casino, table games are the ones that bring in new customers. That is exactly what Maryland needs right now. this is especially true if they manage to open that new casino in Prince George’s county. The whole purpose of opening that casino is to hopefully lure people in from Washington, D.C. Few people may come if they only have slot machines to look forward to, but the casino could make a huge impact if they are offering a full service casino resort.
