Cordish Cos. On the Move
Well, at least Maryland can say it is finally coming. Cordish Cos just received a grading permit that allows them to begin site work on the casino that is coming to Anne Arundel County. This casino is not just any casino. When Cordish Cos. starts building the casino it will be the start of the largest casino in all of Maryland. It is not just going to be the biggest casino in Maryland for a while, it is likely to be the biggest casino in Maryland… period. This is unless state legislators decide some several years down the lines to add more slot machines to the Maryland offerings. But that is unlikely as Maryland has yet to find owner ship for a sound portion of the 15,000 slot machines that they legalized in 2008.
The name of the casino will be Maryland Live! The Baltimore based Cordish Cos. will be expanding on their Live! brand of casinos with this 4,750 slot machine venue. That is almost one third of the slot machines that have been legalized in Maryland. The venue will have several attractions including a live entertainment venue as well as restaurants, including a signature restaurant from celebrity chef Bobby Flay. While the entertainment and food are excellent additions, the biggest contribution that Maryland Live! will be making to the community are jobs. There will be thousands of people needed to run the casino and hundred to build it. Workers will start having new jobs in the community once the company begins site work on the grounds. Cordish Cos. will need an additional permit to begin building.
